| Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on July 13, Station 1 and surrounding companies were alerted for a reported marine fire at Safe Harbor Narrows Point Marina in Grasonville. A large column of smoke was visible for miles prior to the arrival of emergency crews. Chief 10 arrived on the scene and reported an approximately 60-foot boat heavily involved in fire. Engine 25 from the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department arrived and quickly deployed three hose lines to begin fire suppression efforts. Additional crews from the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department assisted Station 2 with overhaul operations and extinguishing remaining hot spots. Firefighters remained on the scene for nearly two hours to fully extinguish the burning remains of the vessel and ensure the fire was completely out. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. |
