Mission Statement:
KIVFD's Life Safety Division is committed to the reduction of all injuries, property loss and the promotion of safety education to our community and fellow responders.

The Fire and Life Safety Program covers the following major areas:
- Public Safety Education – The Department’s public outreach program providing the community with up to date fire prevention and life safety information thru training classes, lectures, open houses, and our website.
- Safety Inspection and Preplanning – The Department’s program where fire suppression personnel tour local businesses to identify hazards to personnel in the event of a fire.
- Firefighter Occupational Health and Safety – The Department’s program for ensuring the health and safety of its First Responders.
- Incident Reporting System – The Department’s program for maintaining our incident information and statistics as required by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The division of Life Safety was established in 2007 to develop, execute, and manage Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department's All Hazards Injury Prevention program. The Division's staff work in the areas of public safety education, safety inspection, and pre-incident safety surveys, incident data management, First Responder occupational safety & health, and incident safety.
The Division's staff can come to your group or school function to talk about fire safety and injury prevention, in addition we also provide tours of the fire station.

Fire Report Request: All requests for reports must be submitted at this link https://www.kivfd.org/apps/public/database/formAdd.cfm?Form_ID=4 and accompanied by a payment of $25.00 to cover the cost of the report. Please include documentation as to your involvment in the incident (adjuster, owner, etc), date and time of incident and an address.
ISO Rating: The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Dept. has obtained an ISO rating of 4 in hydrant areas. Our rating in non-hydrant areas is an 8B. Should your insuarance company require any additional information, such as number of responding apparatus, total gallonage of water, etc. please have them email us at lifesafety@kivfd.org and we will respond with the requested information.
