Today, the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department proudly hosted an interdisciplinary training drill in collaboration with the Shock Trauma Go Team, Queen Anne’s County DES, and Maryland State Police Aviation—Trooper 6.
The day kicked off with a lecture and case study session led by Michael Broussard, CRNA, and Dr. Benjamin Lawner, DO, along with members of the Go Team. These sessions provided valuable insight into critical trauma scenarios and prehospital care strategies.
Following the lecture, participants engaged in a hands-on extrication drill that incorporated advanced airway management, hemorrhage control, and patient packaging techniques. Fire personnel played a critical role in coordinating the safe extrication of simulated patients.
After lunch, provided generously by Friendly’s of Kent Island and Jersey Mike’s of Kent Island, participants observed a live aircraft demonstration showcasing dual-patient loading and hoisting procedures by Trooper 6.
Joint training like this is essential to strengthening our statewide EMS system and ensuring seamless, high-quality care at every step of the patient care continuum.
A huge thank you to all participating agencies, instructors, QACFEC for the training equipment, and our incredible lunch sponsors for making the day a success! |
